As February arrives we really start to notice the days lengthen, but perhaps we need to bear in mind the old saying ;
"As the day lengthens, the cold strengthens"....
Our welcome to all, however, remains as warm as ever - no matter what the weather brings !

We have been very busy promoting our cheese during January - attending the Speciality Food Trade Fair at the SECC in Glasgow and also the FARMA (Association of Farm Shops) Conference Trade Day in Edinburgh. These events help to introduce our cheese to shops, delicatessans, hotels & cheesemongers from far & wide - who come to the shows to see 'what's new' & decide what to stock for their customers in the coming year.

For those who know & love it, our 'Anster Mature' will become available once again this month. We sampled some which was made last May & it is very nice.
Our 'St Andrews Farmhouse' cheddar is also maturing well, but needs a little longer to develop a full-flavour. it will, therefore be closer to Easter before the next batch is ready - so watch this space.....
Also proving popular is our 'Smoked Anster' - try some next time you visit !

Cheese production has been increased to 4 days a week to meet demand !), so you can now watch the process on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. Phew ! |

On the Farm, the cows continue to enjoy a warm & peaceful life, sheltered from the worst of the winter weather - 185 ladies to be milked twice-a-day, however, means there is always lots of work to do !
The sheep - our 'winter visitors' from Glenshee - are now enjoying the turnips which were grown especially for them. Land which was too wet to sow with Winter wheat in October & November is now being ploughed. Turning the soil over to let it have exposure to a bit of frost helps to 'break it down', ready for the seed drill in April when we will sow Spring barley

Newly introduced & proving popular is the 'Flavoured Latte' - choose from Honeycomb, orange, caramel or mint.
Recent visitors will have noticed our new signage, both outside & inside the shop. We hope you like it !
